It's been a busy start to the year, as January draws to a close and February opens and the days and light grow longer we prepare for imbolc, and the first burgeoning's of the coming spring. Talking of Spring, the upcoming Vernal Equinox, and the parking arrangements for the Stonehenge so called Managed Open Access, has already been the subject of much debate.
It started back last Winter but I was not made aware until recently. The Heretics 'slapped' flyers on parked cars who were forced to park elsewhere as EH once again had the monopoly on parking within the World Heritage site, having applied for and been granted closures of all the by-ways.
Anyway their flyers (pre printed and pre prepared as I pointed out) asked Pilgrims to book in advance for parking and thereby attendance to future gatherings (Managed Open Access) starting this Spring. Needless to say 'we' knew nothing of this at the time or beforehand, and fear the Sanitisation and total commercialisation of our gatherings, starting innocently enough but with 'Mission creep' The writing is on the wall for a future pre-booked and Ticketed event with Druids such as myself being reduced to 'performing monkeys' as an aside for EH's Solstice and Equinox event.
So with cobbling together Virtual meetings online to express our concerns, January was bound to be a little more hectic then usual,
On top of that I had the sad duty to assist with the funeral Rites of a friend and colleague, There are not many people (or Bards) who can say they have been covered by the late Great Jimmy Hendrix but my friend Pete Lucas of the Troggs certainly could, “Wild Thing”.....
Press interest has as usual 'ticked over nicely' and today I meet with Dutch National Press to discuss our opposition to the so called Stonehenge tunnel.
As I explained last month, this is an election year and I am to stand for Salisbury as an Independent candidate. I have now designed and finalised the election leaflet and received quotes and amounts needed to avail myself of the free (delivery cost only) mail shot.
It's a lot of pennies so any help with fundraising would be appreciated.
Blessings from the Front /|\
