There is much 'wrong' in the world and we play our part in trying to change it, by signing petitions, by demonstration and protest and by highlighting issues and bringing them to the fore through the media and Press.
Last month was for 'us' was no different, filming with Franco/German TV over the so called Stonehenge Tunnel Project and being a visible face to the dissent. Protesting against their PR exercise in which they National Highways tried to 'Talk it up' but it's not all about Politic and Protest, sometimes it's about Patience.
Waiting for new part to arrive from Germany, in this case a New starter motor for a Twenty Five year old Italian Motorcycle, is quite a lengthy process these days, whatever the reasons, and being thus without transport having only just had the Iron Steed returned from a major rebuild, having had a replacement clutch fitted makes it seem all the worse. But as is said, “worse things happen at sea,” and indeed there is much to be thankful for in these dark times. It's just not always clear what.
That is until you look out on a summers morning as I am doing now and are reminded of Nature and all that is good in the world albeit disturbed by the sounds of our commerce and populous whether that's Trains, Traffic, Jets flying overhead or the habitual Siren now so commonplace. But Nature is so resilient, you only have to look at the cracks in the pavement.
It always amazes and amuses me, when we talk of man destroying the world, we can no longer destroy the world than we can change our place in the Universe. We are very arrogant to believe we can do any more that make it uninhabitable for ourselves, life will go on. Do you not remember being taught that insects will survive a a nuclear blast?
So, if life will go on, with or without us let us, as we have for thousands of years celebrate what we refer to as the turning of the wheel, in this case the upcoming Summer Solstice. For those who can make it, there will be a night of merriment and a Dawn Ceremony at Stonehenge,
For those who can't, I suggest you honour the dawn in like manner where you are or at a local Sacred site. And if you don't know of a Sacred Site? Make one. Each and every Tradition has a beginning and looking back at all traditions they had to start somewhere and if in future a site has been traditionally used for Worship of one kind or another, does that not then make it Sacred?
There is much to fear in this ever changing world but there is much to Celebrate when we look outside ourselves and to the wonders we call nature.
