Today is the first of June a day that has gone down in the annals of Darkest Wiltshire, the day of the infamous 'Battle of the Beanfield' although as CJ, my co-author of 'The trials of Arthur' says, it was in fact more a rout than a Battle. The 'Trials' is out of print at the moment but I hope to have back in print and made available electronically by the end of the year,
Much has been written about the that day in nineteen eighty five and The Levellers wrote a song about it,

There is much information and photographic records out there on the internet and I invite you to check it out for yourself and remember it's not just 'Thatcher' who wants and wanted to outlaw protest and gatherings and it's not necessarily consigned to history, the fight for civil liberties and freedoms is always ongoing and we can never sit back and leave it to others, as by the time they have taken the 'others' away, there's nobody left to stand for our rights, and we can not stand alone.
As for my involvement, with The Battle of The Beanfiel' yes I was involved, riding down with a large group of 'Outlaw Bikers', We never made it to the Beanfield, because unlike the 'convoy' we actually made it to Stonehenge, only to be arrested en mass and escorted out of the county, (well as far as the vale of the white horse) where we joined with Hawkwind for what we later referred to as Stonehenge in exile. That's where I met with Tim Sebastian of the Secular Order for the first time, although it would be years later when we both sat on The Council of British Druid Orders as heads of Order that we would recall such a meeting.
And that was where I vowed to return to Stonehenge with the people and after many years of campaigning I did so and have fought to maintain and improve access at Solstice and Equinox ever since.
Speaking of which, the next Managed Open Access to Stonehenge, when all are welcome to attend is the Summer Solstice Night of the 20th - Dawn of 21st June
